Silver Spring, MD Exclusive

Become a Yoga Therapist!

Our Yoga Therapy Program is designed to certify you to work with individuals within the yoga therapy model. Upon completion, you will have the information and skills to work one-on-one with people for a wide range of conditions. The course will teach you anatomy, philosophy, theory, and how to apply this information and tools in a therapeutic setting. The course is structured to be completed in about one year. The unique blended online, in-studio and retreat format allows for schedule flexibility so that people with a variety of life situations can participate.

This program and curriculum is based on years of knowledge and experience as a practicing Yoga Therapist. You will be taught through a Koshic “lens” or framework. The Koshas are how yoga views the human experience. By the end and completion of this program, you will be able to assess any client and teach them techniques for self-healing. You will have a clear grasp of how human anatomy works and be able to apply it in a real-world setting. This course is designed for actual application and the teachings come from actual cases. The goal of the Yoga Therapy Program is to train people to be clear on how to work with any condition from lower back pain to arthritis, depression to spiritual connection, in a focused way that has full integrity.

Course Content

The main part of this course, the Foundations course, will be delivered in 50 online lectures (see course outline) with an option in person monthly study group at the UP Campus with other students also in training in our area. The fee for the in-person monthly Campus at UP is $500.

This unique online/in-studio hybrid will give you the support you need to complete the course and truly understand the material.

Weekly Q&As with Brandt

There is also a community Facebook forum for all trainees to ask questions that arise at any time. You will also receive a weekly, live, online, group Q&A with Brandt to delve deeper into the material and get your questions answered. These weekly times change according to the group’s needs.

Weekend Retreats

There are 3-weekend retreats as part of the Foundations course certification. These retreats will be held just above New York City in Claverack, New York at the beautiful WON Dharma Center and are offered 3 times per year. To complete the course you must attend each of the weekend retreats. Each retreat will cover yoga teachings & techniques, Sadhana, and muscle testing/structural analysis.

(Note: The weekends are billed separately, the fee will vary depending on the accommodations you choose. Generally, the cost should be between $500-$650 per weekend including 2 nights and all meals.)

Weekend retreats dates can be found here.

We are also developing a distance option for those too far to make the retreats. The cost for all 3 will be in the $1000 range and will include the same material. Contact us for more information.

UP Campus Training Facilitator

Shervon is a Certified Yoga Therapist, 200 Hour Level Yoga Teacher and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.  She was first introduced to yoga in high school while living in New York City. It was there that the seed of self-discovery was planted. She had no idea at the time that yoga would later become an integral part of her life.

Yoga called Shervon back to the mat, at different points in her life. That call grew stronger during a period when she began to experience symptoms of an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder. It was then that Shervon’s practice evolved, moving her from a sweaty, physical practice to a quieter, slower paced practice that allowed her to turn her attention inward. With her breath as her guide, Shervon’s practice became more about noticing, yielding and accepting what is in the moment. It’s about listening to her inner voice to gain a clear understanding as to what her body, mind and spirit needs each day.

Shervon’s commitment to personal practice led her to help others through yoga. She completed a 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga (RYT) certification in 2012 and a 50 hour advanced Yin Yoga certification in 2016. In 2018, Shervon completed a Yoga Therapy foundations level certification. And, she is currently working towards the 800 hour advanced certification in Yoga Therapy.
