Physical Sensation and Breath and Energy

Affirming your heartfelt mission, intention and inner resource lays the foundation for experiencing your body as sensation. iRest practice will cover Physical Sensation (Body Sensing); which lays the foundation for experiencing your body as energy or Breath Sensing.

  1. The practice of Body Sensing is listening to your body’s voice. Body sensing teaches you how to sense, locate, welcome and respond to sensory information.   Students will engage in a body sensing meditation.
  2. Breath Sensing focuses on the breath as one of the most powerful healing resources within each of us. The amount and way we breathe plays a central role in physical activity, as well as digestive processes, muscle tone, blood flow, heart rate, etc.   Breath is also closing linked to thoughts, emotions and feelings.

Guided by Monya Cohen, Psy.D., RYT 200, Level 1 IRest Yoga Nidra Teacher

iRest (Integrative Restoration) Yoga Nidra is a restorative 10 step meditation practice that supports you in discovering true health, happiness, and well-being within yourself and your relationships for the rest of your life. Feelings and Emotions and Intellect:  Cognition and Imagery.  Welcoming the messengers of sensation and energy lays the foundation for experiencing the messengers of emotions and thoughts, which paves the way to recognize the actions you need to take to stay in harmony with yourself and the world around you. During this practice, we will define feelings, emotions and cognitions as well as promote healing by pairing the opposites of feeling, emotions and thoughts and acquiring an understanding of emotions as messengers.

Joy, Equanimity and Well-Being

Welcoming the messengers of emotion and thought sets the foundation for the experience of joy and well-being and for you to be the observer of all that you are experiencing.   Session four cultivates the understanding that Joy is always present inside of you; waiting to be released.

Session 5: Sunday, November 19, 2017 3:00-4:00 pm

Witness:  I-ness and I-Thought, Being, Awareness.

iRest practices 1-4 focused on individual messengers of sensations, thoughts and emotions that arise in your awareness. Taking the stance of observer enables you to gain perspective and allows you to feel yourself as being, leading you to a realization of yourself as awareness.  Knowing yourself as awareness enables you to feel your underlying, non-separate wholeness with all of life.   Session five invites you to shift your focus from awareness of individual details to the whole picture.
