The Chakras are vital energy centers located in the body and are responsible for physical, emotional and spiritual balance. Each of the seven chakras opens us to a different dimension of our being and is activated by one or more of the chakra categories. Hatha Yoga poses evolved as vehicles for opening and balancing the chakras.

Objectives:

From the Root Chakra to the Crown, learn the location, elements, colors, essential oils and organs associated with each of the energy centers.

Gain an understanding of the chakra’s including the areas of the body impacted and associated health problems when the energy centers are closed or out of balance.

Practice Hatha yoga poses that open and balance the corresponding energy centers of the body.

Practice mantra’s, breathing practice and chakra balancing meditations to use at homeduction to the Chakras

Fall is here and it is time to relax and restore. Throughout this workshop you will use the hammock (hanging very low) to help assist and support you in restorative yoga poses. You will be grounded the whole time and guided through various restorative poses (held about 5-10 minutes each). The experience will be enhanced with Thai Massage assists for the ultimate relaxation experience. Unwind, let go, and feel good! This workshop is open to anyone! No experience needed.

Join us for a donation-based class in honor of Veterans Day! All donations are tax-deductible and will go to Warriors at Ease, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to increasing awareness about the power of yoga and meditation and educating a network of professionals qualified to share evidence-based practices through programs that support the health and healing of service members, veterans and their families.

In order to honor the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform during this Veterans Day holiday, participants are led through 108 consecutive Namaskara A Sun Salutations. The number 108 has long been significant in Yoga and corresponds to 108 sacred sites throughout India and 108 sacred places of the body. Students will challenge themselves emotionally, spiritually and physically during this transformational event.

Introduction to Yoga

The physical practice of yoga provides us methods on how to breathe, stand, sit, and move for an optimal shift towards living in the present moment. Individuals expand awareness by exploring the body through intentional action as a way to calm the mind. Side effects include building physical and mental strength, endurance and discipline, increasing circulation, respiratory capacity, and stabilization, calming tension, easing pain and finding balance. Understanding of self, feelings of bliss, acceptance, and love may also occur. Yoga is not magic, it’s a practice, and you have to do the work. Our 4-Part Introduction to Yoga Series will prepare you to take classes on the UP yoga schedule with confidence. Each week will progress your understanding and build your bank of knowledge about the body, the breath, common yoga postures, and the language of yoga instruction.
