Various Types of Yoga Found at UP


Our classes welcome everyone, regardless of fitness level, or yoga experience.  Your teacher will help you to take your 
practice where you’d like to go.  Please talk with us if you have any questions, or physical limitations, and we will recommend a class for you.  Please remember, it’s YOUR practice — your best teacher resides within you.  We ask you to listen to your body and adjust your practice to fit your needs. 



Vinyasa Level I 

Level 1 is a slower-paced vinyasa flow class for those new to yoga or for those who prefer a gentler class. Sun salutations and other asanas primary to the vinyasa practice are broken down. Props and modifications are offered for proper alignment and ease in the postures.

Bhakti Vinyasa

A soulful, bhakti-based, devotionally infused practice that incorporates chanting, pranayama, purifying vinyasa flows, and free-form movement to open the heart and dance with spirit. This class is appropriate for all levels.

Sunday Slowdown

Bliss out in this all levels offering perfect for Sunday evening as you prepare for the week ahead. You will be guided through a mindful flow followed by yin poses after which you will be led through a yoga nidra practice. Yin offers long-hold poses with the opportunity to linger in each pose quieting your mind and connecting with yourself. Yoga nidra is a yogic sleep bringing you into a state of deep rest and relaxation.  

Rise and Shine Yoga

Salute the sun and start your day with this early morning yoga class. Rise and Shine is a gentle vinyasa class accessible to all levels that will help to connect you with the natural rhythms of our world. Linking breath and movement, this class will slowly build heat, strength and flexibility. Get moving in the morning and start your day focused and relaxed and ready to embrace your day.

Power Flow (with beats)

A fitness-based approach to the Vinyasa style flow. You will link your breath with movement as you flow through vigorous sequencing, including arm balances and inversions.  You will build strength, flexibility, cardio, and focus and can expect a workout. This class is appropriate for all levels, and those looking to sweat.  The beats are always from various artists, ranging from hip-hop, R & B, pop and more, expect to flow to the music and requests are always welcomed! 

Midday Movement

Come flow with us during your lunch break. Rather than sitting and eating at your desk, take the time to connect with your body, your breath and with others in this all levels vinyasa class. Go back to work with an improved mood and focus.

Yoga Fundamentals

Yoga Fundamentals is a class for students new to yoga or who would like to go back to basics. Each week, students will be introduced to new yoga poses, learn safe alignment and be taught how to link breath and movement. Students who regularly attend Yoga Fundamentals will gradually be able to take level 1.5 classes.

Vinyasa UP

This class embodies what inspired the creation of UP; challenging yourself,  bettering yourself, getting yourself healthy and reaching new heights within a supportive community. Vinyasa UP is a challenging vinyasa class where you will learn the principles of and prepare for arm balances and inversions. With a focus on upper body strength, this class will teach you to set a strong foundation through the hands and feet, help you feel safe trying poses you may not have felt comfortable attempting, but have always wanted to try.

All Levels Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Yoga connects breath and movement through sequences that may change from class to class. Vinyasa is a creative practice where you may be introduced to yoga philosophy, various pranayama (breathing) techniques, movement and stillness all meant to inspire personal growth and transformation. An all levels class provides modifications for beginners.

Restoratives for Anxiety

Yoga Soma for Anxiety works to bring regulation to the entire bodymind using the combined practices of somatic experiencing, integrating wholeness through nondual healing and awareness and stimulation/regulation of the nervous system through Yoga kriya, mudra, pranayama and plenty integration time. Over the weeks, this class helps to builds stability and transforms at the essential level. Through contiguous practice the anxious states of consciousness that trouble us as humans cease to captivate us or present obstacles to our freedom and happiness.

  Vinyasa Level I/II 

Enjoy this beginning to intermediate level class, which builds on yoga basics offering you the opportunity for deepening your practice. You will be encouraged to develop a well rounded practice with asana and pranayama connecting you more deeply with your body. In this class you will gently be introduced to Level II concepts while still having the option of Level I variations and modifications allowing you to grow at your own pace.

Rocket Yoga

Rocket is an intermediate practice, including variations of poses from the first and second series of the Ashtanga yoga system. This class focuses on strengthening your legs, shoulders, and abdominals. Be ready to move a bit faster and get a lot stronger. Modifications will be offered and encouragedd.

Metal Yoga

Join us on this journey deep into darkness where participants will stoke their inner fires to build heat and strength through a vinyasa-style class accompanied by the heaviest soundtrack you’ve ever heard in a yoga studio. As the flames of hell creep through your muscles and melt away your anxiety and resistance, remember the words of Iron Maiden: “I shall return from out of the fire.” This class is open to practitioners of all skill levels—no leather pants or spiked wristbands required.

Hip Hop Yoga

Flow with us over smooth, soulful, beats and lyrics in this all levels vinyasa class. Learning how to breakdance is not the goal. Connecting with the freedom of expression that hip hop offers is highly encouraged. Jazz, funk and hip hop beats will serve as the background to your vinyasa practice. Friday nights let’s listen to some classics and our bodies.

Yin Yang Yoga

Enjoy an all levels class of Yin Yang Yoga which offers a balanced practice of yin and yang styles of yoga. The yin style of long-held passive poses and static stretches opens the body to more flexibility while embracing a more contemplative, non-reactive quality of mind. A more active, dynamic, yang style of vinyasa will follow, strengthening and invigorating the body and mind.

Restorative Yoga for Athletes

This class provides the conditions for all athletes to come into their bodies more: Using various Yoga practices – flow, core stability and static poses. Breath, attention and awareness – students will access deeper functional recruitment, organize efficient movement and release the obstacles of stress and tension to enhance performance. You do not have to be a physical athlete to reap the rewards of this class – but you do need to get up early!

Community Yoga

UP believes that yoga should be accessible and affordable to all. We offer $10 community classes that are open to students of any ability and age. In this class you will find an all levels vinyasa flow which will gradually help you build your practice. Come explore all the benefits yoga has to offer.
